Welcome to Gairmscoil Mhuire, Athenry Vocational School. A glance through these pages will introduce you to what we offer our students and indeed what they offer us in return. Gairmscoil Mhuire is a mixed school of 600 students and a teaching staff of 55. Since our foundation in 1968 we have strived to create a positive learning environment in which we instil in the students in our care the lifelong determination to achieve their goals.

Quality education is all-important and our excellent academic programme and the special recognition of each student's unique individuality offers the finest start in life. We nurture, challenge, support and encourage our students and in turn they 'respond' with a passion for life, a love of learning and the courage to serve others.

I extend a greeting to our many past pupils and take this opportunity to say to you that your school is proud of you and you are always welcome back to reminisce with staff and to see the changes taking place in the school.

I am proud of our present student body and the great determination with which they pursue the very many varied and interesting programmes on offer in the school.

School Building update: we hope to appoint the design team in January and are also in negotiations with the Department and local council regarding the site purchase which we hope to conclude before the end of January.

We would like to wish all students and their families a peaceful and prosperous New Year. To our examination students the best of luck in their forthcoming state exams. Remember free supervised study on Wednesday 4th - Friday 6th, 9:30am-1pm. Start as you mean to go on!!
