Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

On the 20th of January our Transition Year students visited ‘The Coleman Music Centre’ in Co.Sligo.  The centre which is based in Gurteen, is dedicated to ensuring that the tradition of Irish Music remains a living one. As part of the TY programme students participated in the following, Ceili dancing, received  practical demonstration on various instruments, were involved in a music session, and learnt to play a variety of rhythms on the bodhran. The TY class also attended a lecture on Irish Music and the playing style of Michael Coleman.
